I cannot quit!
How many times in life have you ever wanted to quit something? How many times have you ever wanted to quit life itself? To just not care anymore and let life live you instead of you living the life that God intended for you to have.
The Christian life is obviously not a garden of roses where everything is perfect and free of trouble. That was a life that was intended for a different type of garden. That was the Garden of Eden but even then, Adam and Eve messed it all up because of their sin. Sin entered the world and we've been living in a broken world ever since. That's why imperfections exist in our lives whether we like it or not. Each one of us has their own specific imperfections that either drive us to be more like Jesus or cause us to fall into the deepest pit that we could ever imagine.
We have to make a decision. We either quit or we survive by the mercy of God. But, sometimes God allows us to hit rock bottom so that you may know what you're made of. He already knows. The test is for you to know yourself better.
2020 has been an extremely difficult year for everybody. For my family has been a tremendous pressure because of my Parkinson's diagnosis as well as other family related issues. Many times I've wanted to quit but then I remembered the apostle Paul words in Romans chapter 8: 35-37:
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us".
We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Why should we quit then if we are conquerors through Him? Our flesh, the devil and the world tell us we are quitters but Jesus says we are conquerors!
I cannot quit! I am a conqueror backed up by the King. The King of righteousness. The King of Glory. The Kings of Kings. That's my King! My King can pull me out of the deepest pit. My King can comfort me in my saddest moments. My King can sing lullabies in my sleepless nights. My King can make a way in my rough patches in life. That's the kind of King I have and that's why I cannot quit!
He placed me over a family and children. I cannot quit. They need me. He put me in a ministry in a church. People get ministered. I cannot quit. He placed me around people who look up to me. I cannot quit. The devil gives me many reasons to quit but the King gives me more reasons not to. Do you still want to quit? Read the Word. You need love, read the Psalms. You need wisdom, read the Proverbs. You need power, read the book of Acts. For every season or any circumstance in your life, there's always a Scripture for you.
I choose life ( Deuteronomy 30). That's why quitting is not an option. I choose blessing and not destruction. What do you choose? Chose living with Jesus. It reminds me of the chorus of a very famous hymn that goes like this:
"He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart."
Why would you want to quit when "He walks with you and talks with you along life's narrow way"? What a companion! What a Savior! What a King! Do not quit! He's got you!
