Worship Him!

Today was a very special day for me. I play in the worship team of my church, and if you know me, you do know I love music. Per se, you can say I speak three languages: Spanish, English and music! I'm convinced you can express your heart to people when you play your instrument with a very worshipful heart. They can see your emotions and movements when you do so. They can tell you are in the zone. They can tell you are inspired, and that's what happened today!

There was a moment in our first  service when we were playing the song "way maker" by Leeland when I felt I was really worshiping our Lord with all my heart. It happened to be a part of the song where I had to play a solo. It's like my hands were being taken over by the Spirit and led to play melodies that  were really speaking what was in the very bottom of my heart at the time. It was a glorious moment. My heart felt at peace with God. My worshipful mood was so evident that one of my brothers in Christ told me: "Juan, I haven't seen you play and move like that in quite a while".

Now, all of you know that I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease last June and unfortunately, that messes up with my mood. To be honest with you, I didn't get up this morning very worshipful or with the best attitude but one thing I did, I went to church anyway. And I think God honored my resilience. He gave me a very solemn, pure, worshipful experience with Him, the God of all comfort. He chose to give me comfort through music, through my own playing, He gave me peace! You know, the one that "surpasses all understanding". I cannot tell you that experience lasted the whole day, but it was a heavenly boost from the Lord because He knew I needed it. Isn't He wonderful? He truly cares for us! What does the Bible say about music and worship? The very last Psalm, Psalm 150, gives us a pretty good idea. See what it says:

"Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise Him in his mighty heavens! Praise Him for his mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; Praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; Praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord ! Praise the Lord!"

In other words, praise Him with all you've got! And wherever you are! And for what He does for you! The worship to our Lord is not confined to a building. You can praise Him or worship Him anywhere! Now, don't take that as an excuse to not go to church because the Bible says: "Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:25 CEB). The church was built to worship God and to encourage each other in the Lord! Why forsake that? It's nonsensical. Worship the Lord your God! Praise Him from the mountain top! Jesus said:

"But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him". (John 4:23 ESV)

Are you worshipping Him? Are you a true worshipper? Are you being sought by the Father? I pray we all are because only He is worthy of our praise. Just worship! He will encourage you and give you peace in the midst of your worship to Him. Don't miss it! Worshipping Him is a very refreshing experience! You won't regret it! Once again I tell you, worship Him!
