What do you want me to pray for?
Prayer is one of those things that each one of us approach in many different ways. Some of us have a very specific time and place in which we pour our hearts to the Lord. Some of us, pray as we go. Some of us take to heart the instruction of the apostle Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: " Pray without ceasing". We pray in our cars on our way to work, at the gym while we're exercising, at the grocery store, in the kitchen when we're cooking, at the park when we're running and the list goes on. Prayer must be an essential part of our lives if we want to keep our line of communication with God wide open. That's our personal prayers to God.
What about those people who are constantly asking other people what they can pray for them? Those people are a great gift to us all! Those are the people that are concerned about you, your family, your well-being, your relationship with the Lord and many more things. Those are the sweet prayers of a prayer warrior!
The other day at work, I was at the register waiting for customers to checkout and all of a sudden, a lady came out of nowhere and asked me what do you want me to pray for? Without hesitation, I told her: "I'm sick. I have Parkinson's disease". The sweet lady said: "Oh my" and
placed her hand on my chest and delivered a prayer of healing that touched the deepest part of my soul! She uttered words like: "Lord, heal every cell in his body. Lord, heal him from this disease" and so forth. She doesn't know it, but that prayer lifted up my spirit, blessed my soul and made my whole afternoon a lot better. Not only that, a friend from work got to witness that divine intervention and got touched by it telling me: " That was sweet. I wish somebody would pray for me that way!". What and example of a prayer warrior! What an example of a seed well planted in the heart of someone that might need the Lord! The lady didn't know she was planting a seed, but our dear Lord surely did!
I don't know how many of us have that sense of urgency that take us to pray for people right there and then. That sense that tells us: "This person needs prayer. Do it now!". I wish more of us would listen to the promptings of the Spirit to pray more urgently than we usually are.
That lady taught me a great lesson that day! Always be on the look out to pray a prayer of emergency for people everywhere you go. You'll never know who might be in need of one. I believe the Lord sent that lady to uplift my Spirit and he surely did! So, are you ready? Are you willing? Are you committed? Are you going to follow the example of this sweet lady? Will you ask the question: what do you want me to pray for and deliver a prayer to a stranger right there and then? That lady did so should we! May God bless your soul and make us all more urgent, caring, always on the look prayer warriors! The Kingdom of God need more of those. Let's be one!
